My Newspaper Collection (at this moment)
Переглядів 178 місяців тому
An album of local papers, amalgamated….a few errors in the transcript…why did I say THUNDERBIRD when it was clearly a Toronado! Sorry! I also said Mike Smith twice…but corrected it once to Mike Brown. Most of the rest of this is fairly correct. What’s a newspaper collection without a few corrections after all…

Audi - 100 Years PR (2009)
Переглядів 448Рік тому
Here is a collection of Audi PR from early 2009, which was either posted to a feature on their website tv.audi.com/ or www.audi.com/100years (no longer active) or was located on a press kit. There is a nice cross section of vintage ads and modern publicity for the latest offerings from Audi at the time.
The Secrets of Speed: Audi - The Unfair Advantage / Speed on the Autobahn
Переглядів 1,8 тис.Рік тому
This was one of my all time fav autosport videos growing up. It aired on ESPN, and thereafter was rather difficult to acquire...until the Internet came along, when a few 'over the air recordings' were uploaded to the web. But before any of that occurred, I managed to get hold of the right person, and requested a tape copy of the program. They sent me a VHS with TWO episodes, The Unfair Advantag...
Audi 25 years of Quattro (English Version)
Переглядів 16Рік тому
From the press release back in the spring of 2005: "Precisely 25 years ago, a car that was to change the automobile engineering world went on display for the first time: on March 3, 1980 the first Audi quattro was shown to the public at the Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland. Before long, the many competition successes achieved by this model established a heritage of success that has remained und...
CBC Radio Vancouver: Conquest - a quiz show hosted by Chuck Davis (1979)
Переглядів 87Рік тому
I don’t know much about the CBC Radio Show Conquest: a quiz show hosted by Chuck Davis at CBC Vancouver, but I have been able to piece together a few details. It seems the only other person I could find on the web who reminisced about the show was panelist Bill Casselman, who wrote, “…While living in Vancouver, I was television columnist for ‘Maclean’s’ magazine (1978-1979) and daily television...
A Lillabo Skytrain Set (vinyl wrapped and elevated track)
Переглядів 1,2 тис.Рік тому
Years ago I made a papercraft SkyTrain using the SuperExpress powered trains. Well, perhaps this is version 2.0. It’s a slightly less sophisticated set up, although the vinyl wrapped trains are almost as much work as making the papercraft cars. The main benefit is the trains are slightly more durable. Unfortunately, they were based on the Toys “R” Us intercity train set, which seems to have gon...

CFUN - Vistas - The Dangers of LSD - Broadcast Date March 1967
Переглядів 672 роки тому
This recording comes from a reel to reel tape labelled CFUN Vistas #1 Mar 67. It is a portion of a program called "Spectrum", but also a rebroadcast of a show called "Action Line". It features Dr. Conrad Schwartz, UBC School of Psychiatry. This recording is 27 minutes long, possibly the first part of a 1 hour program. Incidentally, (in spite of the incomplete tape and an audio glitch at 5:10) s...
JFK Assassination Coverage - Vancouver, BC Radio Mix November 22, 1963 (CBC, CKNW, NBC, Mutual)
Переглядів 3,4 тис.2 роки тому
This audio recording following the assassination of U.S. President John F. Kennedy originally came from the Bert Bush Film Studio of North Vancouver. It was recorded on 2 10" reels of 1/4" audio tape, thus requiring a large reel to reel machine for playback. I finally got my reel to reel audio setup operational and have now transferred this coverage in its entirety. I have not cut or shortened ...

Fast forward 85 years, the English language is outlawed, streets are geared to cyclists only, homeless people everywhere, gang violence abounds, hospitals are overflowing, "asylum seekers/migrants" taxing society to the brink. Nicely done, provincial and municipal governments...

I have owned 9 R bikes, and 2 K75s beauties.... My favorite was the R80G/S I bought new back in the day. That is the best bike ever built, in my humble view. I currently have an R1150RS, also, an incredible bike, that is absolutely visually, a stunningly beautiful bike, like the R100RS was in its day, too! These bikes are so amazing! They handle like a dream, have great brakes, and they run forever! The new Beemers, with all the gadgetry, are less reliable, and according to those who I know that own them, spend as much time in the shop getting fixed (electronics issues) than on the road being enjoyed. This is ironic, because I started riding BMW motorcycles for their reputation for reliability.... New is not better. I'll stick with the Airheads and Oilheads, as these models carry the legendary aura that this brand was always known for, for 75 years, until BMW felt the pressure to "modernize" their image. Well, it worked, they are modern, and completely disposable, like everything else these days, even people. And the "global-ists" wouldn't have it any other way.... Thanks for the video. I am retired from LADWP, so it was great reliving the roads of my youth, now that I have moved away after retiring....

I had a series of Hondas (XL350, XR250, CBX400, CBX550F2) then at age 24 was intrigued by a used R80RT. Owned it less then a year before upgrading to an ex-police K100RT in early 1988. I had a long test ride on the first demo R1100RS in 1993, took it back, and said "When there's an RT my name is on the first one". (Yeah, not the way to get a below MSRP price lol). Sure enough, I got one from the first five in NZ, registered to me on 1 October 1995. I'm still using it today, October 2023, 28 years later.

Nicely stabilized - thanks! The Montreal Street Railway Co built the first sight-seeing car in 1905 and it was so popular they built another the next year. Successor Montreal Tramways Co built two more c.1923. All four cars are in preservation, two at Exporail and two more at museums in New England. At least three of them run regularly. I'd love to know where the "cattle stampede" (lol)) was and where the farmer was doing his thing. #TheKidsToday -- and really, #TheKidsOfThe1970s (me!) -- don't have a good sense of just how much food was grown on the island back in the day.
